Located on the leeward side of Caye Caulker (just across from the “split”), Koko King has quickly become a very popular attraction just months after opening! With a full bar and restaurant, inner tubes for floating in the ocean, and lots of lounging furniture for guests (including beach beds that can be rented), Koko King is a great place to hang out at for the day or for part of your Caye Caulker trip! The setting is beautiful, and the walk out to the water from the beach is seagrass-free! Catch the boat at the end of Calle del Sol road to Koko King every 15 minutes for a short ride over!
Located several miles north of San Pedro town, Secret Beach, which isn’t so much of a “secret” anymore, is a gem on the west side of Ambergris Caye. With beautiful, crystal-clear blue waters – and a shallow slope that allows you to walk out for nearly a quarter mile with the water still below chest-height – it’s the perfect place to spend time enjoying the sunshine and warm waters of Belize. Also, there isn’t any seagrass in the water!
While many folks pack a picnic / beverages to bring along, there’s also a food truck and two bars on site that provide additional food and drink options. Consider bringing a pool float or two if you feel like relaxing or are bringing the kids!
To get there, head about 5 miles north of the mostly paved road up to Indigo Beach Homes and Resort (and a large BTL cell phone tower) and take a left. Follow signs for 4.5 miles to Secret Beach. Note: it’s a long, bumpy ride, but well worth it! Plan for about 45 minutes of travel from San Pedro town.
The Rojo Lounge is another fun place that you might consider visiting while up north or as a ½ day trip on its own. Amazing food, fun atmosphere, and a beachfront pool / loungers that makes it a very kid-friendly place to hangout at for hours at a time! *Closed Sundays!
The Truck Stop
Don’t not go! Belize’s first shipping container food park and beer garden, the Truck Stop is a must if you haven’t been! Corn hole tournament on Sundays, adult movie night on Wednesdays, and kids’ movie night on Fridays. Check out their Facebook page to see what will be playing. The Truck Stop is located 1 mile north of the bridge and is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
